Kaboose is a website with information for parents and it features a great selection of holiday ideas, with a special section for Earth Day. This site includes ideas for crafts, games and day activities. There are also fun quizzes to test your knowledge of the environment. For teachers, the site features lesson plans, and, if you are unable to celebrate outside, the site also includes ideas to celebrate Earth Day at home, with activities to make your home greener. On the PBS Kids website, kids can celebrate Earth Day and learn about taking care of the planet with their favorite Public Broadcasting characters. The site includes games about planting a garden, disposing trash and learning about animals. The site also features an e-card creator to remind others about Earth Day. Planet Pals is a website with many resources for parents and teachers. The site includes activities, information about Earth Day, printable coloring pages and clip art. The site also features information about world peace and other related holidays, such as Water Day and America Recycles Day. Libraries have many books about nature and the Earth. Your librarian can help you find kids' books according to your needs. The United States Environmental Protection Agency also has a list of books to teach kids about taking care of the Earth; you can find a link to their book list in the Resource Section. Many libraries have activities to help kids learn about Earth Day, sometimes at story time. Check with your local library to find these activities.
