Normal Teen Hairstyles
It is important for teenagers to have a normal hairstyle, so they fit in with their peers. There is a lot of flexibility these days when it comes to hairstyles for both teen boys and teen girls. Teen boys are no longer expected to have a short, conservative style to conform, and teen girls have a multitude of acceptable haircuts to choose from. Does this Spark an idea?

Girls: Long Styles
-
For teenage girls, long hair can either be smooth and straight or have soft, controlled curls. Both looks are popular, but if your hair is frizzy or between the two, you will need to use hair straighteners to achieve a straight look, or use a curling iron to put natural-looking curls in your hair. You can also get a layered cut or cut bangs into long hair to add edge to your style.
Girls: Short Styles
-
Short hairstyles give a cute and modern look to teenage girls. A bob haircut frames the face and looks great with straight, chunky bangs cut in. An A-line bob--short in the back, and longer in the front--is stylish and often sported by celebrities. Short, messy cuts are popular, but require quite a lot of styling, as some sections need to be curled and hair product needs to be applied to create a controlled messy style.

Boys: Long Styles
-
Teenage boys having long or mid-length hair is deemed to be normal in current times. This is partly due to the popularity of rock music and the emo fashion. An emo hairstyle is one of the most fashionable long cuts for teen boys. It is achieved by having straight, layered hair of chin-length or longer, with bangs swept over to one side. Shoulder-length straight long hair is also a normal style for teen boys who like rock music.
Boys: Short Styles
-
Short styles are still popular for teenage boys, as they are more practical than long hair, especially for boys who are into sports. Spiky hairdos, fixed with gel, are common for teen boys, as are "faux-hawks." These are a hairstyle where the middle of the hair is gelled upward like a short mohawk, but the sides are slicked down, rather than shaved off. Bangs can be grown into otherwise short hair, to create a happy medium between long and short styles.
