Free Online Advertising for Non-Profit Projects
The Internet provides a significant opportunity for non-profits to advertise their projects because of the massive number of websites and their need for an ongoing stream of content.
With a good knowledge of all the ways advertising can be placed on the Internet, a non-profit organization can get massive advertising exposure for their project at no cost.

Google AdWords
-
Google AdWords advertising provides advertisers with a way to get listed in the search engine results. Advertisers bid on ad placement and pay for each of their ads that receive clicks.
Google offers a program called Google Grants that provides free AdWords advertising to not-for-profit groups. Google has given away millions of dollars of advertising with this program. To advertise your non-profit project, simply fill out a Google Grants application.
Press Releases
-
Several Internet sites provide a free service that distributes press releases to multiple Internet locations. Develop a monthly press release about your non-profit project and syndicate it using free press release syndication sites. An example of one of these sites is PR Log.

Ezine Advertising
-
Thousands of electronic newsletters are published weekly, and many accept advertising. By simply researching ezines that reach your target market and approaching them about promoting your project, you will get added exposure at no cost. A comprehensive list of ezines is available from a membership site called the Directory of Ezines.
Video Advertising
-
YouTube also provides a free not-for-profit advertising program. The program provides tips on using video and how to launch a campaign. Other benefits include getting a listing on Google's not-for-profit channel and instructions on how to build your own not-for-profit channel.
You can produce a highly effective video for free using an online service called Animoto. Animoto takes pictures you submit, provides a collection of music to select, allows for embedding text in the completed video and produces compelling videos that look like they costs thousands of dollars to create. If you are a not-for-profit with a project or are promoting a non-profit cause, email Animoto and they will provide you with an account at no charge.
Online Petitions
-
If your not-for-profit project is seeking support for a cause, use change.org. It is a free site that allows you to create a petition to insert on your website. The petition is automatically syndicated to other sites using the same petition service.
