Extreme Flower Girl Basket Ideas
Flower girls are special little ladies chosen to precede the bride down the aisle. They are usually dressed in similar colors to the bride and carry a basket full of flower petals to drop on the floor. Tradition does not need to play a role in the design of a flower girl basket, it should be tailored to the theme or atmosphere of the wedding. Put together a fresh and funky basket to compliment your wedding decor and to make your flower girl stand out.

Ribbon Lacing
-
Pick color-coordinating ribbons to weave in a woven basket or tie to the exterior of a non-woven basket. Use the color wheel to help determine a coordinating color that will stand out, but still look fantastic in pictures. For example, for a purple color theme use lime green ribbon. Use extra ribbon to make large side bows attached to the handles of the basket and allow the extra fabric to drape down from the sides of the basket. Fill with flower petals or glitter to scatter on the floor.
Embellish
-
Bring out the bling in your wedding by bedazzling a small metal or plastic basket for the flower girl to carry. Rhinestones can be found in craft stores and come with a self-stick backing or can be glued on using tacky glue. Design a pattern or create the bride and groom's initials on the basket using gems. Stones come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors to coordinate with any wedding theme.

Flowers
-
Create a basket made only of flowers. Gather a large quantity of lillies or orchids with long stems. Clear the stems of all leaves and cut the ends so they are all the same size. Bundle the stems together with all the flowers at the top and the trimmed ends at the bottom. Wrap a rubber band around the bundle to secure it and carefully hot glue the stems together in random places to hold the bundle together. Hot glue ribbon to the bundle to use as a handle, add a large bow to the front and wrap twine around the bundle to reinforce the basket. Prepare the basket the day of or the night before to prevent wilting flowers.
Theme Basket
-
Match the flower basket to the theme of the wedding. For example, if the theme is beach inspired, create a small sand pail into a basket and adorn it with hanging starfish and sea shells. Fill it with sand and glitter and have the girl drop that on the way down the isle. A rock-n-roll wedding may consist of a black basket filled with bright flowers and adorned with fur, gems and glitter.
