Ways for a Girl to Propose to Her Boyfriend
If you're the type of girl who simply cannot wait for your guy to propose, there are plenty of ways to take matters into your own hands. As long as you feel confident that you and your boyfriend both want to get married, you can create a memorable proposal of your own that will increase your chances of getting to "yes"---and you two can start planning your walk down the aisle.
-
Public Places
-
Announce your "Will you marry me?" message in skywriting, over a loud speaker, via the DJ during a night of dancing or in a newspaper ad. Inquire at a movie theater about running an ad with your proposal during the previews, or ask a stage manager at a local playhouse to announce your proposal after the cast's curtain call. The advantage of a public proposal is that you can get someone else to say or write the words for you, if you're nervous about saying them on your own.
Private Proposals
-
Create a "treasure hunt" at home. Write clues on slips of paper featuring fond memories you've created together, with each clue leading to the next. Leave a small treat, such as a piece of chocolate, with each clue. Alternatively, tie a red velvet ribbon from one spot in your home to another, with notes attached to the ribbon along the way. Include your proposal on the final slip of paper---or propose aloud once he reaches the end of the treasure hunt or velvet ribbon.

Digital Proposals
-
Create a video of your proposal and upload it to a video sharing site such as YouTube. When you're ready to propose, send him a text message or an email with a link to the video. If you're camera-shy, create an audio podcast instead. Upload it to his MP3 player and leave a note directing him to listen to the podcast---or load it onto an inexpensive, new MP3 player, and then wrap it up and leave the gift at his bedside table.
Keeping It Simple
-
Sometimes the best proposals are the spontaneous, simple ones---especially if your guy is a minimalist. Take advantage of everyday activities to slip in your proposal unexpectedly. Scratch out your proposal on his frost- or dirt-covered windshield (make sure he sees it), write it on a dry-erase board, spell it on your refrigerator with magnets, or have him guess it during a game of "Hangman."
