Children's Activities for Autumn
At the end of summer, things might start looking bleak for children. School will be starting again and the swimming pools are closing. Finding activities for children in autumn isn't difficult and will help to change the dread of being indoors to excitement for the beautiful colors and wonderful holidays that are just around the corner.

Leaf Art
-
Children's art can be placed on the fridge for display, which makes children very happy and proud. Autumn has beautiful resources for children's art, one of the most common autumn art activities is a leaf impression. Take the children outside to find a few leaves they like. When you are back inside, spread some newspaper on the table and place the leaves in a single layer on the newspaper with the rough or veiny side up. Place a piece of paper over the leaves. Using traditional colors of autumn like oranges, reds and browns, color the paper over the leave. You can also have the children pull the paper off the crayons and lay the crayon on the side to get a more smooth texture.
Scarecrow
-
Scarecrows can be funny or scary depending on how the children want to make it. You need only to supply your kids with old, unwanted pants and a shirt, a hat and a pillowcase or a potato sack for the head. They can use newspaper or straw to fill the shirt, pants and head. Let the children draw a face on the scarecrow. You can display the scarecrow anywhere outside your home. You can even have the children name the scarecrow for a little added fun.

Leaf Jumping
-
Autumn isn't complete without a good leaf jumping activity. You can sit back and relax while the kids rake up their pile of leaves in your yard. After they have a big pile ready, let them have fun. They can jump in the leaves, have leaf fights or throw the leaves up in to the air and let them all fall down on them. Be sure to have your camera ready because you will be sure to get some good pictures of your children have fun.
Apple Picking
-
Apples are the fruit of autumn and children can have a lot of fun picking them. Many places have apple orchards nearby that will let families come and pick apples, or you can check with neighbors that have apple trees. After collecting a few bags of apples, take them back to your house and start using them. The kids will enjoy eating them just as they are and will also enjoy helping to make apple cider and apple pies.
