Knowledge of your brother's tastes gives you insight when choosing gifts.

Having grown up with your brother, you know him in a way no one else does. Knowing his likes and dislikes, habits and tastes can help you choose great gifts that he will appreciate and enjoy. Whether your budget is high or low, you can find gifts for your brother that bring him joy for years to come.

  1. Games and Gadgets

    • If your brother is like most males, he loves toys and gadgets, especially if they are the latest and greatest. Choose a game console such as an X-Box, Nintendo or PlayStation or new games for one he already has. Help him organize his television viewing with a universal or voice-activated remote control. Buy him a remote-control car, truck, boat, plane or helicopter to play with. Give him a smart phone, HD camcorder, digital picture frame loaded with family pictures or a portable music device such as an iPod, mp3 or mp4 player with sound-isolating earphones. Update your brother's office space with a new flash drive or USB port beverage warmer or cooler. Help him find his way with a Global Positioning System or a Digital Navigation System.

    Subscriptions

    • A gift subscription will make your brother think of you every month when he receives your gift. Subscriptions are available to a variety of magazines that may interest him, but many other products can be sent monthly through a gift subscription. Food and beverage gifts such as nuts, candy, meat, cheese, fruit, coffee, beer, liquor, wine and tea are available.

    Tickets and Memberships

    • Give your brother a gift that allows him an enjoyable experience. Buy tickets to a concert, sporting event, amusement park, show or movie he wants to see. Offer transportation such as airplane or train tickets to a destination he's always wanted to visit. Provide a membership to a gym, fitness center or golf club. If your brother has children and you live nearby, offer to babysit while he uses his tickets and memberships.

    Personal Gifts

    • Your brother will be touched by a personal gift that shows you notice and remember details about him and his tastes. Give him a certificate to his favorite restaurant or invite him to dinner at your home and prepare his favorite foods. Take a photograph of you and your brother to an artist or use a computer program to turn your picture into a pencil sketch or caricature. Buy a personalized gift, such as an engraved lighter, photo album filled with family photos, engraved frame with a collage photo of family members, a personalized shot glass or a signed photo of your brothers favorite athlete or entertainer.
