Retirement Gifts for Dads
When your father is able to retire, he definitely deserves a celebration and congratulatory gifts. Chances are, your father has worked hard for years to provide a good living for your mother, you and your siblings. He might have helped pay for your college, your wedding and other things. Choose a special gift for your father when he retires that shows him how much he means to you.

Engraved Item
-
Give your father an engraved item that can help him commemorate his retirement. Choose a watch and have it engraved with his initials and the date of his retirement or retirement party. You could also choose a picture frame and engrave it, then place a picture of him with his work friends or doing his work. Other engraved items could be a money clip, a set of beer mugs or a picture album.
Hobby
-
Most men have hobbies that they love and they will more than likely be able to devote more time to them as they begin their retirement. If your father has a hobby, give him a gift that complements it. For example, fill a gift basket with gardening, golfing, grilling or camping items. That way he has even more things that will help him perform his hobby.

Sports Gift
-
If your father enjoys sports, consider giving him a gift that will help him enjoy it even more during his retirement. For example, give him a high definition, large screen television or upgrade his satellite television package so that he can watch even more games. You could also give him sports game tickets or memorabilia from his favorite team or sports figure.
Gift Basket
-
Put together a gift basket for your father when he retires. Maybe he loves drinking wine. Fill a basket with several bottles of wine and other items that will complement the wine, such as cheese, crackers, wine glasses and a nice wine opener. Another idea is a gift basket filled with his favorite snacks, his favorite movies or a basket filled with books by his favorite authors.
