Navy SEALs Rank Salary

Navy SEALs are part of the Naval Special Warfare community and must complete a grueling, 24-week training called Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training. SEALs demonstrate a high level of physical fitness and the ability to conduct operations in all types of environments. The SEAL teams consist of members from many different ranks in the Navy. In addition to basic pay based on rank, SEALs earn several types of special pay.

Enlisted

Enlisted pay grades in the Navy range from E-1, Seaman Recruit, to E-9, Master Chief Petty Officer. As of 2007, SEALs at the E-1 pay grade earn $1,301 per month regardless of experience. SEALs at the E-7, Chief Petty Officer, pay grade start at $2,339 per month with less than two years of experience and earn up to $4,204 per month with 26 years of service. Finally, the salary for Master Chief Petty Officers ranges from $4,110 per month with 10 years of service to $6,381 per month with 38 years of experience.

Warrant Officers

The warrant officer pay scale ranges from W-1, Warrant Officer, to W-5, Chief Warrant Officer. Warrant Officers with less than two years of experience earn $2,413 per month up to $3,856 with 26 years of experience. Chief Warrant Officers start at $5,845 per month with 20 years experience and earn up to $7,539 with 34 years of experience.

Officers

The officer pay scale ranges from O-1, Ensign, to O-10, Admiral. Ensigns start at $2,469 per month and earn up to $3,106 after three years of service. A Lieutenant Commander at the O-4 pay grade starts at $3,744 and earns up to $6,252 per month with 26 years of service. Admirals start at $13,659 with 10 years of service and earn up to $16,795 with 38 years of service.

Special Pay

Navy SEALs receive an enlistment bonus of $20,000 for joining the SEAL teams and re-enlistment bonuses up to $75,000. In addition, SEALs receive special pay depending on their position within the teams. For example, special duty assignment pay is up to $450 per month, dive pay is up to $340 per month and demolition pay is $150 per month. Other special pay includes foreign language proficiency pay, parachute pay and HALO jump pay.
