Wedding Flower Design Ideas
Flowers are an integral part of any wedding. When you consider the design for your wedding flowers, choose designs for your bouquets, the groom's boutonniere, the ceremony area, and the reception centerpieces. Use similar flower types and colors for all of the areas to tie your wedding together.

Bouquets
-
Modern bouquets feature flowers that are bright and colorful. There are many different designs to choose from for your wedding bouquet. A more traditional bouquet will have cascading white flowers, while a more modern bouquet will be smaller and will feature an array of bright and beautiful colors. Traditionally, brides will throw their bouquets at the end of the night, but you may want to consider having a smaller version of your bouquet made for that purpose so that you can keep yours and dry the flowers as a keepsake.
Boutonnieres
-
Boutonnieres are an important part of the groom's attire. According to Martha Stewart Weddings, boutonnieres are just as important to the groom's attire as the bouquet is to the bride's wedding attire. Match the groom's boutonniere with the bride's bouquet by using one of the larger and more prominent flowers, such as a rose. Boutonnieres can be one simple flower or can also feature smaller flowers alongside, such as baby's breath.

Ceremony Flowers
-
Get married in front of a large spray of flowers. Decorate the pews and the altar with beautiful flowers. Designer Matthew Robins suggests looking for inspiration for your ceremony flower design around the ceremony area, such as the color in a painting in the church. When purchasing flowers for the ceremony area, don't forget to order extra rose petals for your flower girl to sprinkle on the aisle.
Reception Centerpieces
-
Hint: Your bridesmaids' bouquets can double as centerpiece flowers. Reception centerpieces can be as elaborate or simple as your budget and taste allow. For a more simple design, consider placing a small arrangement of flowers in a vase which sits on top of a mirror for depth. If you are looking to go all out, use a tall vase and have a fountain of flowers flowing out from it.
