What Are Some Different Baby Shower Games?
When a close friend or family member is pregnant and nearing the end of her pregnancy, you may want to throw her a baby shower. For a successful baby shower, you want to have a variety of games and activities for the guests and mommy-to-be to play during the event. There are several games to choose from, with prizes going to the winners.
-
Never Say "Baby"
-
This game is played throughout the entire baby shower, with the winner being announced at the end of the shower. Give each guest a safety pin to wear on her clothing when she arrives, as well as instructions not to say the word "baby." Every time a guest says the word "baby" during the shower, the person who first heard her say it steals her safety pin. This goes on throughout the shower, with the guest who has the most safety pins at the end of the shower winning a prize.
Memory Game
-
Play a baby-themed memory game by placing several items on a tray in front of the guests. These may include any baby items you like such as a bottle, pacifier, blanket, brush or shampoo. Let the guests look at the items for 30 seconds and try to memorize them. Once the 30 seconds are up, remove the tray from sight and hand a piece of paper and pencil to each guest. Give them five minutes to try and list the items they remember from the tray. The person who has the most correct, wins the prize.

Baby Telephone
-
Have one guest at the baby shower whisper a parenting tip into the ear of the person she is sitting next to. Continue whispering the tip into each person's ear, with the last person to hear it being the mommy-to-be. When mommy-to-be hears it, she announces it out loud and compares it to what the original parenting tip actually was.
Guess Mommy's Tummy Size
-
This game is played with a ball of yarn or string, and a pair of scissors. Have each guest pull off a piece of yarn in the size she thinks would fit around the mommy-to-be's tummy, and cut it off. Once all of the guests have their string, have someone wrap string around mommy's belly and cut it off where the ends meet. Compare this string to the guests' strings, giving a prize to the person who got the closest to the correct size.
Dirty Diaper Game
-
Prepare the diapers before the baby shower starts, one for each guest. Make them from home by folding paper napkins into a diaper shape and pinning them together with a safety pin. In one diaper, place a dollop of peanut butter or piece of chocolate. Hand one diaper to each guest as they arrive, and request they hold onto it until the end of the shower. When the baby shower is coming to an end, have each guest open their diaper. The person who got the "dirty diaper" wins the prize.
