Arranging every detail with your coordinator minimizes the stress of your day.

When planning a wedding or a special event, there are countless components to arrange and confirm before the day -- including finding vendors, booking a venue and arranging for favors, flowers and refreshments to be brought to the venue site. The duties of a wedding or event planner can cover all of these, though the extent of their work depends of the planning package you select.

  1. Reasons to Hire an Event Planner

    • If you are busy already, piling on the tasks required to create your special day can often be overwhelming, taking the enjoyment out of preparing. The number of services provided by your coordinator depends on your budget as well as the extent of control you want to assert over your day. Some people hire event planners for the day of their wedding or party to make sure that everything runs smoothly. Others ask their coordinators to assist them from the start, so the planner organizes everything from decorations to limousines. Pricing of services range vastly depending on the couple's expectations.

    Organizing Vendors

    • Wedding and event planners have connections to many vendors and suppliers. They can help locate the least expensive or the most specialized suppliers, finding vendors to fit your needs and budget. They will also be able to make suggestions based on their previous clients' experiences, taking the guesswork out of booking vendors. Additionally, if your event has rather exceptional needs, such as an extravagant theme or a party member with allergies, your coordinator will know who is best to fill the job.

Duties on the Day of the Event

    • The coordinator take care of any emergencies that arise on the big day, and he will also confirm the date with your vendors and ensure that each one is in place and ready for your event. He will have a checklist on hand to prevent forgetting any elements and will visit your venue to make sure that all of the decorations, tables and bridal party are ready for your ceremony.

    Duties After the Event

    • After you and your guests head home, you leave behind myriad tasks left undone. Your event coordinator will arrange for these tasks to be completed rather than shuffling them off on your friends or family. Duties such as venue cleanup, arranging dry cleaning and organizing a lost and found fall under your coordinator's jurisdiction, and she will see to it that they are completed.
