    • California-based Detective Training Institute too offers a home training program to prepare for a career as a private investigator. You will get input that will enable you to ply the métier of a private investigator. For instance, the course provides information on background investigation and research techniques, how to trace and locate missing persons, how to use surveillance techniques and photography, and how to deal with the danger you are likely to encounter in this sort of career.

    Allied Schools

    • Allied Schools offers its private investigation training through an online course. There are also support staff available to answer questions from students. Much like other courses offering this sort of training, the Allied course provides input on aspects such as professional private investigation, interviewing and interrogation, theories relating to background investigation, and surveillance techniques. In fact, according to Penn Foster Career School, the demand for private investigators is expected to grow by 22 percent through 2018. The training school cites Department of Labor statistics to report that the highest earning 10 percent of private investigators make $76,600 annually. However, those in the lowest-earning 10 percent bracket make only $23,500 annually. At the median, private investigators make $41,800 annually.
