Computer Science & Engineering Scholarships
Many students leave college deep in debt. However, a vast range of scholarships help computer science and engineering students to pursue their dreams without being haunted later by debt. Students in related fields, such as math, are often eligible for the same awards, especially if they plan to work in a computer- or engineering-related career.
-
Barry Goldwater Scholarship
-
This prestigious national award provides $7,500 scholarships to engineering students or those in closely related fields, such as math. Faculty representatives from nominate students, who must be juniors or seniors to receive the award.
The Next Generation Scholarship Fund
-
This award provides $5,000 scholarships to students planning to work in fields related to electrical power generation, such as mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering, says the Engineering Education Service Center.
-
American Society of Naval Engineers
-
This organization provides $2,500 scholarships for undergrads in their last year of study and $3,500 for graduate students. Applicants will ideally have shown interest in naval engineering.
U.S. Department of Energy
-
The Department of Energy's Computational Sciences Graduate Fellowships provide a yearly stipend of $36,000 while also covering full tuition. Applicants must study computational or engineering science. They can renew the award for up to four years.
HP Scholars Program
-
The HP Scholar Award gives a four-year scholarship of $3,000 per year to engineering students. Awardees also receive a computer, printer, PDA device and the chance to work in a paid summer internship.
NASA MUST Scholarship Program
-
This program gives scholarships of up to $10,000 to undergraduates pursuing engineering, technology, science or mathematics degrees. Students also participate in enrichment activities like learning from a mentor and potentially receiving a paid internship.
National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)
-
This organization sponsors and administers many awards, like the Northrop Grumman Corporate Scholarship. This award gives $5,000 to engineering or computer science students and those in related fields like naval architecture.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
-
Some scholarships, like the NOAA's Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship, support study in special interest areas. This award supports engineering, computer science, physical science and mathematics students in pursuing oceanic and atmospheric studies.
