How to Repair a Wolverine Faucet

Steve Smith

If you own a Wolverine faucet and it leaks, repair it by replacing the cartridge. This is a common repair for any faucet, including the Wolverine brand. It takes about a half hour from start to finish, and after this repair the leak is gone. The cartridge is the part that contains the seals and gaskets for the hot and cold inlet valves on the faucet. Replacing the cartridge simply updates worn out seals and makes the faucet operate like new.

Step 1

Turn off the water to the Wolverine faucet by closing both the hot and cold water valves under the sink.

Step 2

Take the cap out of the top of the faucet handle with the end of a screwdriver. Unscrew the small screw on the top of the handle with an Allen wrench and pull the handle off the base of the faucet.

Step 3

Take the cartridge cap off the base of the faucet by unscrewing it by hand, or with a pair of channel pliers. Remove the stem O-ring, cartridge valve and cartridge by lifting them out of the faucet base.

Step 4

Insert a new cartridge, valve and O-ring in place of the one you just removed. Replace the cartridge cap and tighten it with the pliers. This secures the cartridge parts in the faucet base.

Step 5

Put the handle on the stem and insert and tighten the screw with the Allen wrench. Replace the cap.
