Traffic schools offer one or more types of courses. The Basic Driver Improvement (BDI) course takes four hours to complete and is generally required after a moving violation to avoid points on a driving record. There is also an eight-hour intermediate aggressive driver class that is usually court-ordered. Funny In Florida is the only comedy traffic school to offer the 12-hour advanced driver improvement course. Drivers must attend a BDI course if they are involved and found at fault in an automobile collision in which someone was transported to a hospital or if the driver is found to be at fault in two collisions within two years in which over $500 in property damage was caused. Drivers must also attend traffic school if they have received a traffic citation for passing a stopped school bus, running a red light, highway racing or being a spectator at a highway racing event, or for reckless driving. Commercial driver's license holders may not avoid having points assessed against their driving records for violations by attending traffic school.

Improv Comedy Traffic School is operated by Budd Friedman's famous Improvisation comedy club, which is also referred to as The Improv. The comedy club has helped launch the careers of countless numbers of stand-up comedians. The Improv Comedy Traffic School is operated online with the assistance of professional stand-up comics, and according to its website, over one million drivers have attended its traffic school. The cost of taking the basic driver improvement (BDI) course, as of 2011, is $29.95. The cost for taking the court-ordered intermediate/aggressive driver course is $59.95. Upon completion of the course, drivers will receive four VIP passes to an Improv comedy club show. The BDI course takes four hours to complete while the aggressive driver course takes eight hours.

Comedy Defensive Driving School offers the four-hour basic driver improvement course in an online format. As of February 2011, the cost for taking the BDI course is $25. The school's website states that more than one million drivers enroll in its courses each year.
Funny In Florida Online Traffic School

Funny In Florida offers courses in an online format as well as on DVD and through on-site classes; however, the on-site classes are not offered in Plantation or any other cities in or near Broward County. The school offers the BDI course, intermediate course and a 12-hour advanced driver improvement training course. Funny In Florida was the first Florida traffic school to be approved by the department of motor vehicles to offer courses in a booklet format. With a "certificate processing fee" and state of Florida assessment fee, the cost for taking the four-hour course in any format, including on-site classes, is $24 for the four-hour course, $74.05 for the eight-hour course and $109.05 for the 12-hour driver improvement course as of 2011.
