Halloween events in San Diego are easy to find.

Halloween is a great time for kids to dress up as their favorite characters and enjoy spooky and fun events. San Diego has many attractions suitable for children, so whatever your children enjoy, there is something to keep them amused. If you are worried your kids will get frightened, special events are available that are spooky, but not scary.

Seaworld Spooktacular

Sea lions and otters perform a Halloween-themed show for the kids.

The Spooktacular at Seaworld takes place on weekends from October 1 to October 31, between 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Spooktacular allows kids to trick-or-treat for goodies, using a map to find the "treat" stations. Spooky shows include a themed sea lion and otter spectacular, and a parody of scary movies like Jaws and and Micheal Jackson's "Thriller" video. Kids can experience and see amazing sea creatures and interact with the festive costumed sea creatures that mingle with visitors throughout the park. Children can come to Seaworld dressed up in their Halloween costume, or just as they are, to join in the fun.

Legoland

Kids love characters created by Lego.

"Brick or Treat" is Legoland's annual attraction for Halloween. Legoland builds special Halloween-themed Lego statues for the children to view as they walk around. Candy give-away stations are situated around Legoland so kids can "Brick or Treat" as they follow the wilderness trail. There is a Halloween party in the evening for the kids, and you can enjoy Legoland's rides and attractions on your visit. Children are encouraged to come dressed up and join in the fun. Halloween events run on weekends throughout October every year.

Lite Frite at Monster Manor

Children get to meet Scooby Doo and his gang at Lite Frite.

Monster Manor offers Lite Frite, a "non-scary kids friendly haunted attraction," so if you are worried the little ones will be too scared to join in the fun, this is definitely the event for you. The story "The Mystery of the Backlot Phantom" is a great story that kids can join in Scooby Doo-style sleuthing. The kids act as junior detectives and try to solve the case. All the children get a trick-or-treat bag at the end of the event, and meet the Scooby gang.

Bates Nut Farm

Bates Nut Farm offers a fresh alternative to Halloween celebrations.

Bates Nut Farm is on 100 acres and, at Halloween, really makes a great day out for the kids. At the farm are scare crow contests, hay rides and farm animals the children can meet and touch. Kids also enjoy giant pumpkins, nuts, old fashioned candy and a hay maze. They can dress up and enjoy running around in great open spaces and really enjoy an autumn day at the farm. A gift shop is on site that offers memorabilia to take home, and some really tasty nuts.
