Can I Use Swiffer Wet Cloths on Wood Flooring?
Swiffer is a floor cleaning company that designs and manufactures a line of mops. The Swiffer WetJet is a mop that spreads cleaning solution on the floor, then works it into the floor with a gently scrubbing pad. The pad also picks up dirt and other debris so you don't have to mop the floor again. Does this Spark an idea?

When to Use Swiffer Wet Cloths
-
Swiffer Wet Jet machines do not completely soak wood floors so it is possible to use the machine to deep clean wood flooring that is finished and sealed. The seal, usually polyurethane, will prevent the water from soaking deep into the floorboards where it could rot the wood and cause other issues. Always dry the floor as quickly as possible as any standing water can harm wooden floors.
When Not to Use Swiffer Wet Cloths
-
Never use Swiffer Wet Cloths to clean wood floors that are unfinished and unsealed. The wet cloths will also damage oiled or waxed floors by removing the top layer of the oil or wax. Instead, sweep these floors and spot clean them as needed. Excess water will seep into unfinished wood where it could cause mold growth, wood rot and eventual buckling.

Assembling Swiffer Wet Cloths
-
Ensure that the machine's batteries are functioning before putting the cleaning solution and cloth on the Swiffer machine. If they are, insert the cleaning solution bottle into the tank and press it hard to ensure that it is properly connected. Use the wood floor cleaning solution. Apply the cleaning cloth to the bottom of the Swiffer pad. The cleaning cloth will help scrub away marks on the floor and is soft enough that it will not scratch the floor.
Using Swiffer Wet Cloths
-
Slide the machine across the floor. Press the trigger to spray the antibacterial cleaning solution on the floor. Run the Swiffer over the area to work the cleaner into the floor. Leave the cleaning solution on the floor to dry completely. The Swiffer Wet Cloth will pick up most of the solution.
