Ideas for a Summer Party

Ideas for a Summer Party thumbnail
Even if you're not at the beach, you could have a beach-themed party.

Summer is the best time to get a group of friends or relatives together for no special reason other than that the weather is nice and it's great to be with people you care about. Hosts, however, have the additional task of coming up with an idea to get everyone together. It shouldn't be hard, though. It should be fun. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Pool Party

    • If you or someone you know has a pool, a pool party is always a great option for a summer party. Chances are you'll need to cool off at some point as July and August are dragging on. Getting everyone together for a swim, though, isn't always an option. When you live in a city and only have a small yard, you may have to buy a kiddie pool. It may not sound as much fun, but you can still cool off, be with your friends and have a surprisingly good time. For a successful pool party, it's best to get a water-proof music player, a bunch of extra towels, and some beverages to cool off even more.

    Grilling

    • Grilling and chilling -- or perhaps grillin' 'n' chillin' -- are two of the best ways to spend a long weekend afternoon during the summer. Get some partiers to go to the grocery store and buy some meat. They'll enjoy this. Then get them to marinate it and throw it on the grill. Invite everyone over for a shindig, and dig in around the grill, smelling the smells and, of course, tasting the tastes. All you need to do is bring the grill to a sizable backyard, set up some lawn furniture, get some paper plates, cups and plastic utensils, and you're all set.

    Block Party

    • Get your neighbors involved. There's no reason only your friends and family can get in on the fun. Some of the neighbors may even become your friends, which boosts community spirit and support. Get organized, and get in touch with the city to see whether you can shut down your block for the day. Set up games for the kids and maybe get a local band for the adults to enjoy. Serve drinks, play badminton, and enjoy a street whose only traffic is on foot.

    Keg Party

    • Sometimes you just want to relive the old college days on a warm summer's day. It may remind you of easier times, before you had all the responsibilities of an adult. Make sure everyone who will attend is over 21 and that nobody drives after imbibing. That said, all you have to do is visit your local beer distributor and acquire a keg and a keg tap. Then set it up in a bucket full of ice so it stays cold throughout the whole party. Remember to tap some designated drivers -- who will not be allowed to tap the keg.
