Christian Boarding Schools for Troubled Young Adult Men

When parents begin to question the actions of the young men in their family, whether the actions include poor grades, disrespect, substance abuse or violence, it might necessary to intervene. Peer pressure and other environmental factors can sometimes make it difficult for young men to choose the right path.   1. Beartooth Mt. Ascent

    • Beartooth Mt. Ascent is a working 40,000-acre cattle ranch located in Powell, Wyoming. This Catholic-based program offers programs for troubled young men between the ages of 18 and 26. Its programs are designed to provide assistance with substance-abuse recovery, addiction treatment, job skills, relationship skills, lifestyle choices, work ethic and reality therapy. During their stay at Beartooth, young men will work their way through six Life Key phases that carry predetermined privileges and responsibilities.

    Future Men, LLC

    • Based in Kirbyville, Missouri, Future Men, LLC provides a safe and structured environment for troubled young men as a catalyst to help them embrace responsibilities and freedoms, including respect for authority, strong work ethic, obedience and the fruit of the spirit. This Christian-based program assists young men in finishing high school requirements so they can earn diplomas. It also offers apprenticeships with master tradesmen. Future Men, LLC, can house up to 14 young men in a group lodge home. In addition to the apprenticeship and study opportunities, participants will be required to take part in daily chores and community service work.

    Broken Shackle Ranch Inc.

    • Troubled young men between the ages of 16 and 20 can attend the Christian-based Broken Shackle Ranch in Davisboro, Georgia, just 2 1/2 hours southeast of Atlanta. Broken Shackle Ranch offers an academic education including GED classes, vocational training in five trades and mental health and behavioral services. Spiritual guidance is provided through Bible studies, church services and camping trips. Students can also take part in recreational activities that include softball, basketball, fishing, weightlifting and table tennis.

    Fork Union Military Academy

    • The Fork Union Military Academy of Fort Union Virginia is a college preparatory boarding military school for troubled young men. In its Christian environment, Fork Union uses the military system to teach responsibility, leadership, discipline and pride in a spiritual environment.
