Navy blue and white contrast each other nicely.

Other than perhaps a wedding date, the first question on a bride's mind is what color or colors she is going to decide on for her wedding. If you have selected navy blue as your primary wedding color and are looking for ideas of how to incorporate this color into your wedding and reception, you are ready to consider a few options.

  1. Fishy Fishy in a Bowl

    • A large, clear fishbowl with navy-colored fish swimming inside makes a stunning and unexpected centerpiece. Use navy blue aquarium gravel for the bottom of the fishbowls, and surround the fishbowls with white and dark blue stringed Christmas lights and navy blue or white tulle. Choose dark blue fish such as the dark blue variety of the Japanese fighting betta fish. Consult with a pet store for more navy blue fish options.

    Blueberry Favors

    • To bring the navy blue theme to your favors, pile fresh blueberries into small galvanized pails. Paint the pails navy blue and tie a solid navy blue or gingham ribbon onto the handle. Add a sticker to the front of the pail with the bridal couple's name and the wedding date written in navy blue. The blueberry favor looks darling next to each place setting and makes for a healthy treat. Use small chocolates instead of blueberries for a sweet treat.

    Nautical Touches

    • A simple navy blue pillar candle makes for an inexpensive and easy, yet attractive, centerpiece for a reception. Set the candle in sand and navy blue aquarium gravel. Adding shells to the arrangement is optional. Cover the candles with a hurricane lamp. You may choose to scatter navy blue and clear river rocks around the outside of the hurricane lamp to add sparkle to the table. Add more candles in varying heights for a different look.

    Blue Water Centerpiece

    • For an inexpensive navy blue-themed centerpiece, simply use clear glass shallow vases or bowls lined on the bottom with clear and navy blue river rocks. Fill the container with water. Then, put a few drops of blue food coloring into the water and stir it thoroughly before adding some clear or silver-colored sparkle to the water. This will add shine and sparkle. Place some white or navy blue floating candles into the water. Surround the entire piece with navy blue tulle. This arrangement looks nice on navy blue or white linens.
