Pink and green

The colors of pink and green work well with weddings of spring and summer. Pink and green allow brides to be feminine, yet contemporary, and even elegant. The pink and green combination is appropriate for beach weddings, for English garden weddings, and even modern chic weddings. As a bride, you know what you like, and now it's just figuring out how to get the pinks and greens into your wedding.

  1. Pinks

Choosing pink as a wedding color seems simple. But there are several different shades of pink. If pink is going to be your main color, choose the shade of pink first and then find a complementary shade of green. Some shades of pink to consider are amaranth, carnation, cherry blossom, coral, carmine, deep pink, fuchsia, magenta, light pink, rose, magenta, ruby and tea rose.

If you can't decide which shade of pink you like the best, find your flower or flowers first. Maybe your favorite flower is a rose; if so, see the rose in different shades. Some flowers that are naturally pink are anemone, cactus flowers, lavatera, azalea, hollyhock, hibiscus, hyacinth, rose, lily, geranium, orchid, bluebells, carnation, tulip, cherry blossom, and rhododendron. If all else fails, white flowers can be dyed pink.

    Greens

Like pink, there are several shades of green. Again, if pink is your main color, make sure the green you choose is complementary. You would not want to choose tea rose with lime green. If you need help, look for an online color palette to find complimentary colors. If green is your main color, choose your green first and then find a complementary pink. Some popular shades of green are forest green, lime green, army green, clover, olive, chartreuse, electric green, honey dew, pear, hunter green, jade, mint, pine green, sea green, spring bud, spring green and teal.

If green is your main color and pink is your contrast, use the green flowers for filler. If pink is your main color, you can do an all-green bouquet, some pink, or pink filler. Many green flowers are dyed green, but there are some that are naturally or grown green. Green flowers include zinnia, rose, bells of Ireland, anastasia spider, coffee ivy, cremon, daisy, hydrangea, baby's breath, bupleurum, gladiolus, orchid, pittosporum, fern and boxwood. Choosing a shade of green may start with choosing a flower.

    Modern

If you're looking to use pink and green in a modern theme, two modern pink colors stand out: fuchsia and deep red. Roses are always a good choice for a modern bouquet; however, other flowers that would be a good choice for a modern bouquet include lilies, peonies, tulips and orchids. For the modern bride, bouquets can be loosely gathered and tied with a pink or green ribbon. For a more elegant splash, wrap the bouquet in some kind of jewelry, like pearls or crystals. For the reception, a creative and more modern idea for vases is clear vases filled with green apples, with pink and cream flowers for the centerpiece. Another way to get a splash of green and pink is with a candy table focused on those two colors. Modern themed cakes are always seamless and simplistic. Use an all-white cake with pink and green accent; perhaps use pink and green in alternating tiers.

    Fun and Flirty

Fun and flirty weddings range from a preppy-themed wedding to beach and tropical weddings. For any of these themes, the pink usually pops out and the green is more pastel or light. Also, consider khaki slacks and a green jacket, or dark jacket with green and pink ties.

    English Garden

English Garden theme is reminiscent of older time periods and is a classic theme that can be used for a day or night wedding. Typically, you want a tea rose or pastel pink flowers, cream, and green filler. Disperse the light pink and green through decorations, especially flowers. For bridesmaid dresses, choose light or dark green dresses with a pastel pink sash and bouquet. You could also dress your bridesmaids in pastel pink and then have the sash be a shade of green. Add pink in tea cups and place cards.

    Where to Use Color

Use color in the bouquet and flower arrangements. Other decorations, such as chair covers, centerpieces and pew decorations, can also be effective places to disperse color. The first exposure of color for your guest is the invitations. Choose one of the colors as the main color, and use the other color as the embellishment. You could also use both colors equally in a more patterned or decorative way.
