Choose gifts for your groomsmen based on their personalities

Your groomsmen are an important part of your wedding. They arrange the bachelor party, help assemble tables and equipment and share the stress of your big day. They also invest their money to attend your event and buy the proper attire. It's important to show groomsmen and attendants how much you care. Consider their hobbies and interests in choosing gifts, and you'll find one that's sure to please.

  1. Monogrammed Items

    • Present your groomsmen with monogrammed items bearing their names or initials. Monogramming can be done to standard clothing items like T-shirts and sweatshirts, and it can also be done to synthetic materials lining luggage, duffel bags and soft coolers. Consider each groomsman and his interests. If he likes camping, for example, a monogrammed camping chair or food cooler might suit him. You don't have to buy the same item for each friend. Personalize the gift instead. Monogramming is often done at sporting goods stores.

    Engraved Gifts

    • Engraved items can commemorate your special day. Choose a practical item each groomsman is likely to use such as money clips, business card holders, cuff links, pocket knifes, beverage holders or flasks. Write a special message expressing your appreciation for him as a friend.

    A Day or Night Out

    • Treat your groomsmen to an experience rather than a material gift. They'll have a memorable time, and you'll get to share it with them. Some ideas include a golf day, sailing or fishing trip, baseball game or trip to a nearby city. At night you could host a poker party at your home or visit a cigar bar. The outing doesn't have to be expensive. The most important thing is to have fun and build a lasting memory.

    Etched Beer Steins

    • Create a unique gift by etching your groomsman's name onto a glass beer stein. Use stencils or your own imagination to make this practical gift. If your friend isn't a beer drinker, glass etching can also be done to a set of tumblers, wine or cocktail glasses.
