Sleepover Decoration Ideas for Preteen Girls
Preteen girls enjoy planning sleepovers to celebrate birthdays, the last day of school, summer vacation or for any reason at all. Discuss the type of theme that your preteen wants to discover her preferences for the party. Making the decorations together is an excellent way to make the evening memorable. Homemade decorations are much less expensive than those you can buy at party or discount stores. Does this Spark an idea?

Spa Party Decorations
-
For a spa-themed sleepover party, cut out pictures from magazines or print pictures off the Internet that depict nail polish, makeup, hair styling tools and other beauty products. Glue them onto poster boards for the sleepover decorations. Set up individual stations around the room for the beauty makeovers to add to the decor. For instance, have a small table with nail polish and other supplies for a manicure/pedicure station and have another table near a wall outlet and a mirror for the hairstyling center. This helps to decorate and embellish areas around the room to give it a festive atmosphere.
Summer Celebrations Decor
-
Celebrate the beginning or ending of summer and decorate accordingly for the sleepover. Give the room a summery atmosphere by making flashy flip-flop wall decorations. Before the party, cut open old cereal boxes and have your preteen stand on one to trace her foot shape. Cut out pairs of foot silhouettes and make them into flip-flops by adding straps cut from cereal boxes. Decorate the flip-flops with felt, sequins, paint, glitter glue and other embellishments before taping them to the walls and door of the sleepover room. Hang poster board collages of summertime activities, such as a beach scene, lawn chairs, glasses of lemonade, sunglasses and other warm weather accessories. Purchase inexpensive flip-flops at a dollar or discount store for each preteen girl. Providing glue, faux gems, ribbons, sequins and other embellishments for each girl to decorate her own pair of flip-flops is a way to add to decor that is also useful for party favors.

Movie Night
-
Many sleepovers include chatting into the wee hours of the morning and watching movies all night. Paste pictures of popcorn, pizza and candy to a poster board you cut into a circle shape. Hang the circle shape on the wall with tape. Use clear fishing line or a thin string to hang old CDs or DVDs from the ceiling and wall areas. This gives the room a sparkly, festive look. Provide plenty of brightly colored floor pillows so the preteens can be comfortable while watching the movies.
Starry Night Sleepover
-
A sleepover with a starry night theme is perfect for any time of the year. If your preteen and her friends like telling spooky stories, watching scary movies or camping out, this is an interesting idea they will enjoy. Tape black butcher paper over any windows. String white Christmas lights around the room. Cut out stars from aluminum foil and cardboard and glue them together. Tape them around the room to add glitter and an elegant look or hang them from the ceiling with fishing line. Purchase black, silver and dark blue helium balloons to float around the room. Use glow-in- the-dark paint to add star shapes to the black butcher paper. The shapes will glow once the lights are turned off for the night.
