Atlanta offers many options for celebrating an anniversary.

Romance in Atlanta didn't end with Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara. The setting for "Gone with the Wind," with its cosmopolitan Southern charm, exceptional restaurants, and 5-star hotels, continues to offer romantic dining experiences and overnight stays perfect for celebrating an anniversary. Prices listed are as of February 2011.

  1. Bacchanalia

    • For a romantic dinner at one of Atlanta's most coveted tables, try Bacchanalia, a Mobil 4-star restaurant serving contemporary American cuisine in a converted warehouse. Bacchanalia, with 20-foot ceilings and deep, inviting colors, is consistently ranked as Atlanta's best restaurant, and has been No. 1 on the Zagat guide since 1996. Bacchanalia offers an $85 four-course, prix fixe menu that changes daily and according to the seasons. The emphasis is on light dishes with strong flavors. Representative dishes include blue crab fritters with citrus and Thai pepper essence, cured wild salmon with cucumber and leek relish, and blood orange souffle.

    Horseradish Grill

    • For a less expensive romantic dining option, try the Horseradish Grill, Atlanta's oldest continuously operating restaurant. The Buckhead institution serves innovative Southern cuisine in a barn-like dining room with a massive stone fireplace. Outdoor dining is also available under a canopy of live oaks. The menu consists of seasonal and regional ingredients, simply prepared, such as roasted Springer Mountain chicken breast served with sharp cheddar and gruyere macaroni and sauteed asparagus, and wood-grilled lamb chops served with horseradish mashed potatoes and broccoli. Dinner main courses range from $18 to $34.

    Mansion on Peachtree

    • For an ultra-luxe romantic getaway in Atlanta, there's nowhere better than The Mansion on Peachtree, located in the city's affluent Buckhead neighborhood. The 42-story hotel, a Mobil 4-star property, was voted one of the Top 100 U.S. Hotels in 2010 by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler. The hotel's Evening of Romance package (starting at $545) includes deluxe accommodations in a double balcony suite with panoramic views of the city, full breakfast for two, and evening turn-down service with chocolate, tea lights, and rose petals. The suite features separate living and bedroom areas and two LCD televisions hidden by retractable artwork.

    Ritz Carlton Buckhead

    • Another option for an overnight anniversary getaway is the Ritz Carlton Buckhead, which provides convenient access to Atlanta's finest shopping, dining and entertainment. The hotel offers a Special Occasions package (starting at $599) that includes accommodations in a one-bedroom executive suite, breakfast for two (room service or in The Cafe, the hotel's on-site restaurant), valet parking, and chocolate-dipped strawberries. Suites feature views of the Atlanta skyline, mahogany hardwood floors, bathrobes, 400-thread count cotton sheets, and goose down pillows. The hotel features a fitness center with indoor pool. Afternoon tea is served in the lobby lounge.
