High School Prom Themes
Prom night is a highlight of the entire four years of high school. It is a celebration of the years of bonding you have spent with your classmates, as well as a goodbye party to friends that you will be leaving. Choosing a theme for your prom will set the tone for the night and can transform it from simply a gathering in the gym to a party to remember forever. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Red Carpet
-
Make every guest feel like a celebrity by "rolling out the red carpet." Place a red carpet at the door to have students enter the hall and hire a few freshmen or sophomores to stand around the door with cameras, pretending to be the paparazzi. Supply them with real cameras to capture the delighted faces of your classmates as they are greeted in style.
Decorate the inside with life-size cutouts of real celebrities that guests can pose with and a big picture of the Hollywood sign as a backdrop. Hire a cameraman who will "interview" students and take pictures of them to make them feel famous.
Casino Night
-
Have students feel grown-up as they enter a world that looks more like Atlantic City than their own high school prom. Decorate the room with large dice and cards hanging from the ceiling, and set up tables with live blackjack games. Provide students with coins at the door that they can use to "gamble," and set the refreshment table with mock cocktails.

Parisian Getaway
-
Take your classmates across the ocean with a Paris-themed prom. Decorate the room with a large Eiffel Tower picture, romantic paths lined with gas lamplights and a huge centerpiece fountain. For an authentic touch, cover all the walls with images of stone buildings and serve true French food. Decorate the ceiling to look like a starry night sky with glow-in-the-dark stars on a dark background.
Dreaming of You
-
This classic prom theme shows your classmates just how devoted you all are to each other. Decorate the place with puffy clouds and bubbles in pretty pastel colors, and cover it with pictures of you and your classmates over the years. Create comfortable "beds" by bringing in couches and mattresses and covering them in pillows and blankets for students to relax on. Place beanbag chairs around the room as well.
The food should similarly tie in to the theme of dreaming or sleeping, so serve treats that look like clouds, such as marshmallows and white meringue cookies, or foods that are associated with comfort, such as hot chocolate.
