Workplace Relaxation Techniques
The workplace is one of the most stressful places for the average person. The stress of dealing with co-workers and high pressure business deadlines is sometimes a little too much to bear. Relieve some of the stress caused by your duties, co-workers and boss by using various workplace relaxation techniques.

Importance of Relaxation
-
Relaxation at work is important because high stress can affect productivity. When you feel stressed and overworked on the job, it can demotivate you from completing your duties in a timely fashion. If you take the time out to relax your mind and your body, even just for a few minutes, it could help you release tension and inspire you to be more productive at work.
Breathing Techniques
-
Simple deep breathing exercises are something you can do quietly on your own at your desk, an empty conference room or in the restroom. Close your eyes and take a full breath in through your nose. Hold your breath for a few moments and then release it slowly through slightly pursed lips. Repeat this process at least eight times before getting back to work.

Hand Relaxation
-
If you work with your hands often, whether by typing, working on a factory line or making products by hand, try a hand relaxation technique. Warming your hands relaxes the muscles and can also help relax the rest of your body in the process. Run two thick towels or cloths under very hot water and squeeze out the excess liquid. Once it's cool enough for you to tolerate, wrap your hands in the cloths and relax your hands on a desk or table. You can also purchase tension balls from a body shop to roll between your fingers as you sit at your desk.
Work Meditation
-
Find a quiet place at your workplace, such as an unoccupied conference room, where you can do meditation. Sit back in a comfortable chair, close your eyes and picture a person, place or thing that makes you happy. For instance, maybe you have a friend who always makes you laugh: Remember his last funny joke to put yourself in a positive state. Continue this process for additional scenarios for about 10 to 15 minutes to help your body and mind relax in the midst of a stressful work day.
