Invitations
-
The first part of any party consists of the invitations. When sending out your invitations, include St. Patrick's-themed cards. Ideally, they should be green and have St. Patrick's Day or Irish symbols such as pots of gold, harps, Irish flags or leprechauns. For an extra Irish touch, consider sending shamrock-shaped cards with the party information written on the surface.
Decor
-
When decorating for your St. Patrick's Day birthday party, have green and white decor throughout. Hang green and white streamers, blow up green and white balloons and cover the tables in green tablecloths. Hang decals of shamrocks, pots of gold and rainbows. In keeping with the Irish theme, hang an Irish flag somewhere.

Food
-
On St. Patrick's Day, people often indulge in Irish foods, regardless of their heritage. Corn beef and cabbage is a staple for some, and you may also consider a variety of potato dishes. You can make potato skins with melted cheese, potato wedges or even baked potatoes. If adults are participating, they might like to indulge in a green beer or two (or three). Simply add green food coloring to normal beer, or serve Guinness Irish stout instead.
Party Favors
-
Give your party guests something to take home when they're finished with the day. Have your guests create their own party favor bags as a party activity, or you can purchase some small green bags from the store. Before your guests go home, fill their Irish-themed party favor bags with leprechaun hats, personalized lollipops or other candies, shamrock-themed mugs or green Mardi Gras beads. Try to give them something they'll enjoy but that still fits your budget.
