Pennsylvania Culinary Scholarships

A variety of scholarships and educational grants are available to students pursuing a career in the culinary arts in the state of Pennsylvania. There are several sources for Pennsylvania culinary scholarships including state professional organizations, Pennsylvania institutions of higher learning and local Pennsylvania businesses. Pennsylvania culinary scholarships may be limited to students from a certain area within Pennsylvania or to students attending a particular college.

  1. PRA Scholarship Program

    • The Pennsylvania Restaurant Association (PRA) provides scholarship support to culinary students through the PRA Scholarship Program. Pennsylvania Restaurant Association Educational Foundation Scholarships are awarded in amounts ranging between $500 and $1,500, as of 2011. To be eligible, an applicant must be a resident of Pennsylvania and must have been accepted into a culinary arts or hospitality program. Both graduating high school seniors and current undergraduates are eligible to apply. The annual deadline for application is March 1.

    Indiana University of Pennsylvania Culinary Scholarships

    • Culinary students at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) are eligible to apply for several institutional scholarships. For instance, the IUP Academy of Culinary Arts Honors Scholarship is available to outstanding IUP culinary students in the amount of $3,000, as of 2011. The ARAMARK Scholarship is available to outstanding IUP culinary scholarships in the amount of $1,500. Other available IUP scholarships include the $1,500 Nemacolin Woodlands Resort Scholarship, the $1,500 Ocean Reef Club Recruiting Scholarship, the $1,500 Nemacolin Woodlands Resort Scholarship and the $1,000 High Achievers Scholarship. The annual deadline for application is May 1.

    Pennsylvania College of Technology Culinary Scholarships

    • Students pursuing a culinary arts degree at the Pennsylvania College of Technology (PCT) may be eligible to apply for several sources of institutional support. The Labels by Pulizzi Scholarship is available to culinary students with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above. The Barbara Johnson Memorial Pastry Arts Scholarship is available to a culinary arts student enrolled full time in the PCT Baking & Pastry Arts associate's degree program. The Ann Miglio Scholarship is available to a culinary arts student with a GPA of 3.2 or better. The annual deadline for application is April 1.

    The Jorge Luis Acevedo, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

    • The Berks County Community Foundation provides scholarship support to culinary students who graduated from Reading High School through the Jorge Luis Acevedo, Jr. Memorial Scholarship. To be eligible a student must be a graduating senior, must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a scale of 4.0, and must be entering a culinary arts or hospitality program. The annual deadline for application is April 1.
