School Reunion Games

Most school reunions don't offer games that require the guests to get up and run around the room. Instead, pick a few games that get the guests' brains working or leads to some good-natured laughter. Trivia games are great, especially when they refer back to the year the guests graduated. Some games require advanced planning if you need the guests to submit photos.

  1. Music Trivia Games

    • When the guests are all seated, begin a song that was popular during the years the guests attended school. You don't have to play the opening part of the song; it may be more difficult to guess if you play a part from the middle. If guests recognize the title and artist of the song, they need to stand up or shout out. If you want it to stay a little more quiet, pass out sheets of paper with enough blank lines for each song you plan to play. The guests simply write down their guesses. Gather the papers and grade them to find out who recognized the most songs.

    Movie and TV Trivia

    • Prepare a sheet of paper with blank lines, much like the music paper. On a large screen, show a very short clip of a movie that was a blockbuster hit during the guests' school years. Have them write the title of the movie on the sheet of paper and turn it in at the end of the game. Again, grade the papers to see who remembered the most movies.

    Matching Photos

    • Get an old yearbook that includes pictures of the guests when they were in school. Enlarge them a bit and display them on a board in the room somewhere. This will provide a lot of laughs as guests get a look at themselves as they used to look. During the evening, bring the pictures to the front of the room and have a contest to see who currently looks the most like their old selves.

    Scavenger Hunt

    • A scavenger hunt works well if the reunion is being held at the school. Divide the guests into several groups and provide each with a list of items they must find in the school. Consider a photo scavenger hunt if you want them to collect things that are too large to move. Have each team use a digital camera to take the pictures so you can upload them to a computer after the game to show to the other teams. A scavenger hunt gives all the guests a chance to roam around the school seeing what is is the same and what is different from when they attended. It will also give them a few laughs as they collect photos of weird or off-the-wall things.
