Dress up your litle girl's outfit with an adorable hair bow.

There are a lot of moms (and dads, too) who love to dress up their infants in hair bows. Whether your baby was born with a full head of thick hair or she's completely bald, there is a hair bow option that you can choose. Although you may be able to find these different styles of hair bows at a baby clothing store you can also make them yourself for a fraction of the price. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Headband Bows

    • Headband bows are perfect for little girls that have no hair at all. To make this simple headband all you need is a baby's headband and some ribbon. You can also use a 2-inch wide, stretchy piece of fabric that you can cut and sew yourself to fit your baby's head perfectly. Slide the ribbon through the headband and tie into a bow. Slide the bow down the headband so it's slightly off center, then put the headband bow onto your baby's head. You can also jazz up the headband by gluing on a large, fake flower.

    Hair Tie Bows

    • For babies with a little bit of hair or a lot you can make a hair tie bow. Using a small, plastic hair tie -- these are safer for infants because they won't rip or pull the hair -- thread a 1-inch ribbon through the middle. Tie the bow into a knot so it stays in place. Gather as much hair on your baby's head as you can and gently tie the hair tie around the hair. Wrap the ribbon around the hair once to conceal the hair tie, then tie the ribbon into a bow.

    Barrette Bows

    • Barrette bows can be worn on babies that have a little more hair on their heads. You can find plain, double-barred clip-in hair barrettes at any beauty supply shop in a variety of sizes. Using thin ribbon, weave two different colors of ribbon through the bars of the barrette until you've reached the end of the barrette. Tie the two ribbon tails together to form a small bow at the end of each hair barrette.

    Bobby Pin Bows

    • For babies with thick or coarse hair you can use simple bobby pin bows. Cut a piece of ribbon 12 cm long. Cut another piece of the same ribbon 3 cm long. Fold both ends of the longer piece of ribbon in to the middle and glue both ends down. Add a drop of glue to the outside of where the two ends meet in the middle of the ribbon, and fold the ribbon horizontally. The ribbon shape will now be made. Wrap and glue the smaller ribbon piece around the middle of the bow you just created to conceal the glued and folded ends. Cut off any excess ribbon ends from the smaller ribbon. Slide a bobby pin through the back of the wrapped ribbon and slide the pin into your baby's hair.
