Kids' Lion Games

Kids' Lion Games thumbnail
Kids love games that involve lion themes.

Lions have held the fascination of kids for generations. Whether cowardly or the king of the jungle, the lion commands attention with his mighty roar and shaggy mane. Lion games can help kids enjoy the suspense of playing make-believe, test their computer skills or have some quiet time. Kids' lion games can also help children learn about cooperation and sportsmanship.

  1. Catch the Lion by the Tail

    • In "Catch the Lion by the Tail," children sit in a circle on the floor, facing inward. One child plays the lion by wearing a long yellow tail made of a strip of yellow fabric with a knot in one end. The lion walks around the outside of the circle and taps each child on the head, saying "lion" with each tap. When the lion says "tiger," he runs around the circle while the tapped child runs after him to grab the tail. If the lion reaches the vacant space in the circle before the other child grabs the tail, the "tiger" child becomes the lion.

    Lion King and Crocodiles

    • In this free online video game, lion cub Kiara from "Lion King 2" must jump across a stream by hopping across the backs of moving crocodiles to rescue the monkey Kovu from the hungry crocs. Players choose from easy, medium and hard levels, and use the arrow keys and space bar to help Kiara jump across to rescue Kovu from a tree branch suspended over the stream.

    Lion Puzzle

    • Kids can practice their problem-solving skills with a nine-panel sliding puzzle. The player must slide the panels and rearrange them to assemble the face of a lion.

    Lion's Cub

    • Kids sneak up behind the child playing the part of the lion in "Lion's Cub."

Kids 5 years old and older can play "Lion's Cub," in which the child playing the lion sits facing a wall or away from the other players and places a stuffed toy for the cub behind her. The other players sit or stand 10 feet behind the lion. One by one, the other players try to sneak up and steal the cub. If the lion hears someone, she roars to catch the other player and turns around. The caught player becomes the lion for the next round.
