Funny Gifts for an Engagement
Many couples have engagement parties to celebrate their recent engagement. It's typical to bring a gift for the couple to these parties. Typical gifts often include something for their home or an item off their gift registry. But these might not suffice for every couple. If you know the engaged couple well and want to give them something unique, consider a funny gift. If the engaged couple has a sense of humor, they will appreciate that you went the extra mile to choose something that fits their personalities.

Caricatures of the Couple
-
Consider giving your friends an artist's caricature of themselves for an engagement present. Give a cartoonist a photo of the couple so he knows how to bring their likenesses into the drawing. Get him to draw a cartoon of the couple doing one of their favorite things in an exaggerated way. Or, tell the cartoonist what the couple likes to do and what he should weave into the picture. Choose an activity that the couple is known for. For example, if they like to drink coffee, the cartoonist might show them fighting over a cup of coffee or one pouring a cup of coffee over the other one's head.
Ear Plugs and Sleeping Masks
-
Many people make jokes about an engagement couple having trouble sleeping together. Some couples bicker over the fact that one person snores or hogs the bed covers. Capitalize on this by giving your friends something to recognize this stereotype -- ear plugs, sleeping masks, and a CD of music that's intended to help people sleep. Since these are meant as a gag gift, decorate the sleeping mask with feathers and ribbons to really make it stand out.

Personalized Items
-
Celebrate your friends' engagement by giving them something personalized. Choose photos of them doing something funny and make coasters, T-shirts or mugs with these photos. Integrate common engagement stereotypes into the item so it ties it back into their impending wedding. Add an icon of a ball and chain onto the item you're giving your friends. Or, print a tip or piece of marriage advice or quote on the item, like "The four most important words in any marriage...'I'll do the dishes.'" or "Marriage is an adventure, like going to war."
Wedding Survival Kit
-
Give the couple a wedding survival kit. You can buy one or make your own. Include any item you think the couple will laugh at when they think about using it to help them get through their marriage. Consider two remote controls, since married couples often fight over the remote control. You could also include shot glasses and miniature alcohol bottles to help them through those rough spots. Include takeout menus to local restaurants to poke fun at the idea that couples can't work together in the kitchen. Include matching his-and-hers aprons so they can share the household chores.
