Appropriate Ways to Integrate in the Classroom
In the United States, compulsory education is required of all students, even though the age requirements vary from state to state. The institution of education in America is traditionally composed of teachers educating students through lecture and textbook lessons. As a direct result of the computer age, teachers have sought out and found ways to integrate technology into the classroom.

Internet
-
The Internet allows for the integration of technology into the classroom through every core subject that includes English, science, social studies and math classes. A most compatible tool for research projects, both simple and extensive, the Internet provides a wealth of information to students seeking to analyze a variety of topics in every subject area. Though teachers set the standard for which sites are acceptable, the Internet is one way to illustrate the simplicity of integrating the Internet into a lesson.
Publishing Tools
-
Publishing tools include computer programs such as Powerpoint and Hyperstudio, which allow teachers to integrate technology into different aspects of the educational process. Through Powerpoint, as the teacher, you are able to not only present your lecture via SMARTboard but also create handouts of the same lecture, where students can add notes and ideas of their own. Students can use Hyperstudio to create projects and presentations themselves.

Spreadsheets
-
Spreadsheets are also a cross-curricular technological tool allowing teachers to easily integrate technology into the classroom and their lesson plan. Each subject has grades, and teachers can solve any grade discrepancies with students (which is a constant issue year after year), by making it a requirement for each student to create a printable spreadsheet of their graded assignments. Also, spreadsheets provide a way for teachers to teach graphic organizers as spreadsheets are essentially charts.
Word Processing
-
The neatest form of completing a final draft of written work is by typing it. Word processing programs allow teachers to integrate the technology of creating professional-looking drafts and printing them out for grading purposes. No matter what type of operating system a school has bought into, a word processing system is available, providing yet another method for teachers to integrate technology into the classroom setting.
