Halloween Activities for a Girl Scouts Party
Hosting a Girl Scouts party for Halloween will provide the girls with a safe place to enjoy the holiday. Incorporate both chilling aspects and old-fashioned fun into the activities for the group. You can also apply the same activities a Girl Scout troop does for Halloween to other organizations such as Boy Scouts. Does this Spark an idea?

Bobbing for Doughnuts
-
Instead of diving head-first into a bucket of apples and water, have the girls try to grab a doughnut or bagel hanging from a string in a doorway. Hang one doughnut or bagel for each girl at face level for the girl. The girls must then hold their hands behind their backs and try to pull the doughnut or bagel off the string with only their teeth. This setup prevents the unsanitary scenario of many mouths touching the same place, as occurs when bobbing for apples. Have the girls alter a doughnut or bagel recipe and make it healthier to fulfill the cooking needs for the Let's Get Cooking badge.
Trick or Treat for Charity
-
As part of the Girl Scout troop's community work, have the girls collect canned foods for a local food bank instead of treats while trick-or-treating. This project will give the girls a chance to give back to the community. Keep in mind that Girl Scouts are not allowed to collect money for another charity, but canned foods are acceptable.

Ghost Stories
-
Turn off all the lights except for one or two flashlights. Alternatively, help the girls build a campfire in a fire pit outside in the backyard if it is legal in your area. Pass the flashlight to one girl who will be the storyteller. She tells the scariest story she can think of or invent, then she hands the flashlight to another. For larger groups of Girl Scouts, give each girl a two-minute time limit to tell part of the story. When she hands the flashlight to the next girl, that girl must pick up the tale where the last storyteller left off.
Scavenger Hunt
-
Separate the girls into small groups of two or three, and send them searching through your home or neighborhood to find items on different scavenger hunt lists. The first group to return with all the items wins a prize. Combine this scavenger hunt with trick-or-treating to find the items on the list. Items might include wax vampire fangs, an empty paper towel roll, a pair of pink shorts, a pine cone, a jack-o'-lantern, a full-size chocolate bar and a yo-yo.
