Mother's Day is a time to remember the most important person in a child's life.

Mother's Day is an important holiday for children to observe, as it helps them remember to appreciate how much their mother does for them every day. Kindergarten-age children will love learning to make crafts for their mother in preparation for this celebration. These crafts serve as engaging and creative activities in the classroom and as a great way for the children to prepare gifts for their mothers. Moms will love being showered with hand-made gifts from their own biggest fans.

Each child will write a letter to his or her mother on a blank sheet of paper. The letter can list favorite memories, state reasons why the child loves his or her mother or explain why they are thankful to have her as a mother. After the children finish their letters, they can decorate them using stickers, crayons, markers and glitter. After decorating, the child will roll the letter up and tie a ribbon around it. Each child should then be give a small decorative bottle with a cork. They will place their letter in the bottle and place the cork in the opening. When they go home, they can give their mother a "message in a bottle" that she can keep forever.

Each child should choose a piece of construction paper in their mother's favorite color. Following the teacher's example, the children will write the word MOTHER in large letters vertically down the center of the paper. Next, the children will come up with words that describe their mother which contain one letter of MOTHER and write them horizontally. For example, they might write "aMazing" around the M, "lOving" around the O, and "Terrific" around the T. The teacher can help the students by writing several words for each letter that they can choose from. The vertical MOTHER should be in larger, thicker letters and in a different color than the rest. Once the children have finished their lists, the teacher will use a hot glue gun to glue a ribbon "hook" at the top of each banner. Once the hot glue has dried, each child will have a personalized banner for their mother.
