Choosing a gift for your Marine husband can be a difficult task.

Whether your husband serving in the Marines is deployed or at home for Christmas, it can be difficult to come up with ideas for his Christmas present. If your husband is deployed, sending him a gift that reminds him of home and of you can ease his homesickness. If your husband is home this Christmas, give him a gift in person that shows him how much you care.

  1. Care Package

    • If your Marine husband is deployed at Christmas time, send him a care package to show you're thinking about him. Fill your package with essential items he may need, some nonessential items he might want, and some sentimental items to remind him of you. Essential items could include deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, canned food items, razors, socks and bed pillows. Nonessential items could include chewing gum, a deck of playing cards, candy bars, and paperback books. Sentimental items could be anything that reminds him of you, such as a framed photo of a favorite memory or a handwritten letter from you expressing how much you miss him.

    Video Games and Movies

    • Many Marine men enjoy playing video games and watching movies in their off-duty hours. If your husband is deployed, send him the latest movie release you think he'd like, or the newest Halo game he doesn't have yet. If your husband is home for Christmas, you could surprise with him with two movie theater tickets and his choice of the movie you see.

    Marine-Themed Gifts

    • For a Marine man proud to be serving our country, a Marine-themed gift is often much appreciated. U.S. Marine Corps apparel, such as a sweatshirt or pair of socks with the Marine Corps emblem on it, will keep your husband warm and proud to be a Marine. There is a plethora of books about the history of the Marine Corps for a man who likes to read, and even a USMC monopoly game for a man who likes board games.

    Photo Albums

    • Put together a photo album of your lives together. You can keep it simple by purchasing a standard album from your local store and inserting printed photos, or, if you are artistically inclined, turn it into a scrapbook with colorful designs and other meaningful paraphernalia like letters from loved ones and a save-the-date card from your wedding. A photo album is a particularly meaningful gift for a deployed Marine, because he can flip through the pictures of you whenever he wants to see your face again.
