Inexpensive Ideas for Wedding Reception Centerpieces
You don't have to spend a million dollars to create wedding reception centerpieces that look like a million bucks. From romantic floral creations to modern glass decorations, there are many inexpensive and easy ways to create your own attractive centerpieces. The key to really saving money is to look for basic centerpiece materials at thrift and second-hand stores, as they often have craft supplies for pennies on the dollar.

Fruity Summer Centerpiece
-
Add color to your summer wedding reception décor with an easy and elegant fruit centerpiece. Start with a large, clear plastic vase for each table. Fill each vase 3/4 to the top with slices of cucumber, lemon and lime. Add cold water almost to the top of the vase to help keep the food chilled. Leave the vase naked for a modern look or tie a white bow around the mouth to add a classic touch. You can also use oranges or grapefruit for the centerpiece if you live in an area with cheap citrus selections.
Silver Sticks Centerpiece
-
Use silver spray paint and small branches to create simple, but stunning, wedding reception centerpieces. Gather thin branches between 1- to 2-feet long from the outdoors and completely cover each one with silver paint. Gather three to seven branches together and slip them into a plastic vase as you would a bouquet. Wrap a silver bow around the mouth or spread silver confetti around the base if you want to dress the centerpiece up a little.

Seashell Bowl
-
If you're lucky enough to live near a beach, gather seashells for free and use them to create earthy reception centerpieces for your wedding. Fill a large, clear plastic bowl with a mixture of sand and seashells. Scatter the most attractive seashells over the top of the sand mixture to help them stand out. Position a single votive candle in the middle of the bowl and place a centerpiece on each table. Leave the candle unlit to make it purely decorative, or light each votive to help the sand sparkle between the shells.
Floral Candle
-
Combine pillar candles and fake flowers to create wedding reception centerpieces that look a little indulgent, but don't break your budget. A single, thick, round pillar candle in traditional white, cheerful yellow or romantic pink can serve as the base for each centerpiece. Wrap a ribbon around the base of the candle and create a bow. Slide a single fake or dried flower into the knot of the bow. Set a single candle directly on each table or place the candle on a decorative plate and then place it on the table.
