MIG Welding Schools

MIG Welding Schools thumbnail
There are a number of schools that offer courses on MIG welding.

Metal inert gas welding, which is often abbreviated as MIG, is another term for gas metal arc welding or metal active gas welding. During the process of metal inert gas welding, inert gases are used with an electrical conductor in a welding gun to sculpt various materials, such as aluminum. There are a number of locations in the United States where you can receive training in the processes of metal inert gas welding.

  1. Modern Welding School

    • The Modern Welding School offers industry training programs and career welding programs. The school also offers hobby welding workshops. The industry training programs provide training in several topics, including oxy-fuel welding, arc welding, pipe welding, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, flux cored arc welding, pulsed MIG welding and brazing. Career welding programs teach students about welding safety, hand-cutting, oxy-acetylene welding and cast iron welding. Hobby welding workshops include MIG welding, tungsten inert gas welding, stick welding and brazing. Tuition and additional fees for training in all-position electric, acetylene and structural welding is $5,525 as of 2011. Tuition and additional fees for training in all-position electric and acetylene welding, structural welding, pipe, MIG, structural steel and comprehensive TIG welding is $10,010. Tuition and additional fees for training in combination welding is $13,300.

    ICT School of Welding

    • The ICT School of Welding offers courses in various programs, including combination pipe, combination welding, practical shop welding, general shop welding, standard welding, advanced pipe welding, advanced MIG, advanced TIG and advanced flux-fored. Tuition for training in advanced MIG welding is $750 as of 2011 and the course lasts for two weeks. Tuition for other programs begins at $750 and ends at $8,505 before financial aid. The school offers job placement to its graduates. It also offers housing assistance. The ICT School of Welding is located in Sunbury, Pennsylvania.

    Missouri Welding Institute

    • The Missouri Welding Institute offers programs in master pipe welding, master structural welding, customized welding and fitting. The master pipe welding and fitting course costs $11,900 as of 2011. The Master Structural Welding and Fitting Course costs $9,525. Both courses offer training in stick welding, MIG welding, dual welding and gas tungsten arc welding. Qualified welders may participate in the customized welding and fitting course which has an hourly fee of $20. Housing is offered to students for $100 per week. The Missouri Welding Institute is located in Nevada, Missouri.

    Advanced Welding Institute

    • The Advanced Welding Institute offers several courses, including the structural welding program, which costs $10,900 as of 2011, and the combination structural and pipe welding program, which costs $18,000. Additional courses, including training in shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding and gas metal arc welding, each costs $1,300 in tuition plus an additional $200 for the required materials. The Advanced Welding Institute is located in South Burlington, Vermont.
