Great Engagement Gifts
Many couples choose to have an engagement party to celebrate this new chapter in their lives. It's also a way to let friends and family know important details about the wedding and to give family and bridal party members a chance to meet and mingle. It is not required to bring an engagement gift, so if you can't afford it, simply congratulate the happy couple and enjoy the party.

Registry
-
Depending on when the engagement party is held, you may be able to purchase a gift from the couple's wedding registry. Stick to a simple gift that has more decorative uses. A blender really isn't an appropriate engagement party gift, even if it is on the registry. If the couple has a registry set up, you don't have to purchase something from the list, but it may give you inspiration.
Household Decor
-
If the couple hasn't registered yet, or you are feeling uninspired, bring them something they can use in their home. Keep it decorative rather than choosing appliances or a collection of towels. You might bring a picture frame, a nice vase (pop in a fresh bouquet of flowers for an additional sweet touch), candles and candlesticks or something similar.

Wine
-
Sometimes you may not know the couple as well, which happens quite often in the case of family, or your budget is limited. Consider bringing a bottle of wine to the couple. They can choose to open it and share with the other guests or wait to enjoy your gift later. If you have the time, consider creating a personalized label for the bottle that celebrates the happy couple.
Charity
-
If you know the bride and groom have a charity or cause they support or are passionate about, consider making a donation to the organization and give the couple a card stating that the donation was made in their name.
Gift Certificate
-
Remind the couple to still have date nights through their engagement by giving them a gift certificate to a favorite restaurant. It's a good idea to make sure the amount is discreetly located on the card so the couple knows how much is available. Be sure to put enough money on the card to cover a dinner for two. You don't have to add in the cost of drinks. If a dinner is too expensive, consider making it a gift certificate to a local coffee shop.
