Entry Level Resume Objectives
Resume objectives play an important role in telling an employer more about you and your career goals. As an entry-level job candidate, you may be competing against many other applicants with the same education level. Write your resume objective to emphasize what makes you unique and what you have to offer an employer that others do not.

Education

Your resume and cover letter detail your educational career for an employer. The resume objective section is a good place to emphasize relevant coursework and experience you gained as a student. Avoid listing every course you took in your major, however. Stick to classes that are particularly relevant to the job qualifications or requirements listed in the job advertisement. For example, you might say, "New graduate with extensive coursework in business seeks position as a marketing assistant with a well-established company."
Experience

Even though you may not have much relevant work experience, your volunteer, internship and part-time experience is important to include in your resume objective. Your experience working in the real world, whether paid or unpaid, can set you apart from another applicant who spent all of his time in college studying. Only include experiences that relate to the job's requirements. You could write, for instance, "I seek a position as a nonprofit development assistant that will build on my volunteer experience as a nonprofit event manager."

Goals

Include your professional development and career goals in your objective as well. If you want to eventually be a store manager, say so. For example: "I seek a sales associate position that will utilize my cash-handling and customer service experience and that will lead to a management position." You might also include a skill set you want to improve in the objective. You could write, "New nursing graduate seeks position as a registered nurse where I can gain practical experience and provide high-quality care to patients."
Other Tips

Keep your objective short and to the point; it should be less than three lines of text. Include the job title in the objective, or at least the industry you are interested in, so employers know what you are looking for right away. Write what you can offer to an employer in your resume as well. You might say, "I seek a position as an administrative assistant where I can use my keen ability to streamline processes to improve the company's efficiency and bottom line." Also, tailor your resume objective to the specific requirements of each job to which you apply. Mention skills included in the job advertisement in your objective to show you read the advertisement and know what the job requires.
