Manassas National Battlefield Park

Tour the Manassas National Battlefield Park, 14 minutes outside of Manassas, to learn about the Civil War and the part that the Manassas region played during it. The Confederate troops met the Union troops twice on the Manassas battlefield. Families can start their visit at the Park Visitors Center to see the 45-minute orientation film: "Manassas: End of Innocence" before beginning their tour. The battlefield park museum displays Civil War-era weapons, uniforms and field gear. Families can hike on the Henry Hill Loop's self-guided trail or join a park ranger for a guided hike.

Spend a day at SplashDown Waterpark on Ben Lomond Park Drive in Manassas. The park offers children and adults the opportunity to enjoy swimming or relaxing on a sand beach. The interactive children's area includes water slides, bubblers, fountains and an activity pool. SplashDown's large pool has four-story waterslides, cannonballs slides, a lily pad and a log walk. Visit Manassas in August for a chance to attend the annual Prince William County Fair at the Prince William County Fairgrounds, 15 minutes outside of Manassas. Activities include a roller derby, a truck and tractor pull, home art show, dairy cow competition, dancing shows, a baby contest, musical entertainment and more. The fair runs for one week every August.
Bull Run Marina Regional Park

Drive to the Bull Run Marina Regional Park, 14 minutes outside of Manassas in Clifton. Families should park in the lot up the road and across from the marina and then enter the marina area to hike, fish, birdwatch or just relax along the shores of the Occoquan Reservoir. The park's Bull Run-Occoquan Trail, 17 miles long, follows the Bull Run shoreline.
