North Carolina has a number of colleges and universities that will prepare you for a career in Christian marriage counseling. A generic counseling degree will generally also qualify you for marriage counseling, while some degrees offer a specialization in that specific field. Even though these degrees are offered at Christian colleges or universities, you will be qualified to function as a counselor in secular offices as well.

  1. Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary

    • Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary offers a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling. This degree confers the title of Licensed Professional Counselor and/or a Marriage and Family Therapist. As of spring 2011, tuition is priced at $388 per credit hour. The school has campuses in Charlotte, North Carolina, Boston, Massachussetts, and Jacksonville, Florida.

      Laurel University in High Point, North Carolina, offers a bachelor's degree in Christian Counseling. The psychology department falls under the John Wesley College, a division of Laurel University. As of June 2010, tuition is priced at $375 per credit hour. This degree will prepare you for a non-licensed career in Christian Marriage Counseling.

    Liberty University

    • Liberty University is based in Lynchburg, Virginia, offers an online Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a specialization in Christian Counseling. Although it is based in Virginia, the degree can be fully completed online. As of Spring, 2010, tuition is $295 per credit hour. This degree will prepare you to become a non-licensed Christian counselor or give you the skills you need for case management, advocacy, or mental health services. Liberty also offers a Master of Arts in Human Services with a concentration in Marriage and Family. Tuition is $425 per credit hour for this degree.

    Foothills College

    • Foothills Christian College offers a Bachelor of Christian Ministry degree with a concentration in Counseling. Based in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, this school has the most affordable tuition rate of $150 per credit hour as of Fall 2010.

    Pfeiffer University

    • Pfeiffer University has branches in Charlotte, Misenheimer and Morrisville. The university offers a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. Tuition costs $10,091 per semester for 12 to 19 credit hours as of Fall 2010. Part-time tuition costs $460 per credit hour.
