A Wedding Checklist Two Weeks Before the Date

In 14 days, you'll be married. There is still be a lot to do between now and the big day, though. You'll have to tie up loose ends and plan your thank-yous. Make sure you're ready to go and that everything is order, so you can have a dream wedding without any missteps.

  1. Create the Wedding Itinerary and Contact Sheet

    • Two weeks before the wedding, make a contact list of all the vendors, from the caterer to the florist, and add the bridal party and your parents. Distribute the list to all the participants. Assign a contact person to each vendor. For instance, you could make the maid of honor the point person for the florist, and another bridesmaid the contact for the caterer, just to take some stress off your shoulders. Give everyone involved in the wedding a schedule of events. Include the times everyone should arrive, and when each event will happen during the ceremony and reception.

    Finalize the Details

    • Call the caterer with the final headcount. Connect with the photographer to go over the type of pictures you want during the ceremony and reception. Meet up with any musicians and make sure everyone is clear on what songs to play when you walk down the aisle, as well as what songs you want for your first dance, father-daughter dance and what songs you absolutely do not want played during the reception. Call any guests coming from out of town and check to see if they have hotel or other lodging arrangements. If you're hiring a limo or other transportation, confirm that two weeks before the wedding, as well.

    Announce the Wedding

    • If you want an announcement to appear in your local paper, send it to them at least two weeks beforehand. Include an engagement photo or other attractive picture of you and your fiancé. Prepare any wedding announcements for acquaintances or distant family members who are not invited to the wedding. Wait until the day before or the day of the wedding to send the announcements out to your acquaintances. Include the date and location of the wedding on the announcements.

    Finalize the Dress and Rings

    • Go for the final fitting of the wedding dress, or try it on at home to make sure it still fits correctly. If it doesn't, schedule an appointment with the dressmaker for any alterations. Check with your bridesmaids to make sure their dresses are in good shape. Confirm that the groom's and groomsmen's tuxedos have arrived and fit properly. Pick up the wedding rings from the jeweler's and try them on.
