Fun End of the School Year Crafts for a Kids Group

It's that time of year again. School's almost over and summer is just around the corner. As a teacher, you're probably wondering what end-of-school-year crafts you can do with your kids to send them off on a high note. Do something that is not only entertaining and educational for the kids, but also colorful and memorable.

  1. Hand Prints

    • As an end-of-year craft, bring out the paints and get the kids some A3 canvas-type paper to put their hand prints on. You'll end up with a myriad of different designs, and the kids go home excited to show off their tiny but colorful hand prints. It's a simple idea, but it's pretty awesome, too.

    Puppets

    • Have a bit of fun and hold a tiny puppet show. Another end-of-year craft involves making puppets. Get the kids involved. Have them bring all sorts of loose ends from home, such as old socks, marking pens and more. Scrounge around for buttons for eyes, beads for noses, twigs for ties and other assorted odds and ends to make the puppets as unique as possible. Work on a short play and have the kids act it out.

    Picture Frames

    • Another end-of-school-year craft is the making of picture frames. Get some foam picture frames and stick on decorations and hand them over to the kids. You'll be surprised how creative they are. Have the kids bring their best picture from home, or alternatively, take some Polaroid shots of the kids as they have fun decorating their frames. Stick the cute snaps into the frames.

    Building A Farm

    • While this end-of-year craft can take quite a bit of time to set up, it's also very involving and fun. Setting up a paper farm with toy animals and structures enables the kids to learn about farms and farm animals, as well as have fun exploring their creative side.

    Scrapbooking

    • The end-of-the-school-year crafts need to be exciting and colorful to grab the attention of the young kids. Scrapbooking is one way to do this. Give the children some glue and have them bring pictures, stamps, postcards and the like from home. Sit them together and supervise their actions. You'll end up with a lovely montage that can go on the fridge.
