Camp Pendleton Aviation Schools
Camp Pendleton is a United States Marine Corps base on the shores of Southern California north of San Diego. While the base itself houses the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training School, this school's focus is on ground maintenance and support of the Marine Corps' aviation fleet. Those wishing to attend aviation flight school have five private schools to select from in the city of Carlsbad next door to Camp Pendleton.

Flight Crew Systems, Inc.

Flight Crew Systems offers continuing education for jet pilots. Founded more than 25 years ago, Flight Crew Systems offers training in Cessna Citations. This school is not for the novice, rather FCS' courses are designed for either those initiating jet flight training or for seasoned veterans of corporate or private aviation to receive further training. Courses begin on Monday and end the following Saturday. Training is available on six current Cessna jets including Cessna I, II, S/II, Bravo, Encore and V/Ultra. FSC offers financing as well as assisting pilots to seek public funding for their education using the Workforce Investment Act of 1998.
Grey Eagle Flight Academy

Grey Eagle Flight Academy was founded in 2001 and offers pilot training using Cessna 152s and 172s. Grey Eagle is not a full-time school. Most students train once or twice a week for two to four hours each time. The FAA requires a minimum of 40 hours to receive a Private Pilot Certificate. The national average is 55 hours. Grey Eagle Students average 51 hours. Statistics indicate that the average student pilot will complete the requirements in four to six months. As of 2009, Grey Eagle introduced computerized classrooms that give the instructor the necessary tools to ensure the student is provided the most up-to-date training.

Pro Flight LLC

Pro Flight LLC was founded in 1988 by Caleb Taylor, a pioneer in flight simulation training. Pro Flight offers a state-of-the-art, FAA-approved Motus 6-Series simulator for training on Cessna Conquest models I and II. The simulator features all six axes of motion (roll, pitch, heave, yaw, surge and sway) so instructors can offer students hands-on training in any number of situations. The company offers a five-day Initial Pilot Training course along with two- and three-day recurrent training. Private instruction to receive a Private Pilot Certificate can be arranged by the school.
Plus One Flyers

Plus One Flyers is one of the largest flight clubs in the U.S. working with dozens of Certified Flight Trainers in the Camp Pendleton area. An initiation fee of $99 is required to join the club. The cost includes a two-hour new member briefing with the Operations Officer. Once members, students are free to interview approved Plus One Flyers CFI pilot members and negotiate their own costs of flight training. The average cost of flight training is $125 to $150 per hour depending upon the plane being used.
Pinnacle Aviation Academy

Pinnacle Aviation Academy offers the training to receive a Private Pilots Certificate as well as courses in Instrument Rating and Multi Engine Rating. Training is available from FAA approved CTIs as well as flight simulators. Pinnacle has a fleet available to train with single engine Cessnas as well as a twin-engine Piper Seminole. In 2000, the FAA granted Pinnacle Aviation Academy "Examining Authority," enabling students to be certified by managing flight instructors.
