Whether you're a professional wedding photographer or a newcomer to the art, you can benefit from sharing ideas with other photographers. Dozens of photography resources exist, both online and in your community. Through these resources, you can swap tips on camera equipment, photography techniques and picture ideas with others in the field.

  1. Online Photography Communities

    • Online photography communities, such as photo.net and Flickr, are filled with ideas and photographers willing to share their work and tips with others. At photo.net, photographers can find advice articles on everything from equipment to the workflow of processing hundreds of photographs shot during an event. Message boards allow photographers to interact. Flickr offers a way to meet other wedding photographers of all skill levels and look through thousands of wedding pictures for both inspiration and instruction.

    Professional Photographer Associations

    • Professional associations for wedding photographers offer a place to talk shop. Some, such as the Wedding Photojournalist Association, is a members-only group that aims to uphold industry standards and regularly hosts seminars and workshops. The group's online magazine, WebPix, offers tips and tutorials, is available to anyone.     • Most wedding planning sites, such as The Knot, offer photography resources among its online offerings, including ideas for portrait locations, ideas for unique wedding pictures and photography and videography tips through articles and and question-and-answer section. Photographers could peruse the site to stay on top of popular trends in wedding photography.

    Photography Clubs and Mentors

    • Local photography clubs offer an informal place for shooters of all skill levels to gather and share ideas. Use the internet or local newspaper listings to seek out such clubs. Additionally, newcomers can check with more experienced photographers in their area to see if one would serve as a mentor or provide one-on-one instruction.
