Christian Prayers for Friends
A Christian learns from reading the Bible that God desires relationship with us, and we communicate with Him through prayer. The Bible also teaches for us to pray for our friends, to "bear one another's burdens." Proverbs 17:17 says, "A friend loves at all times." We love our friends when we pray for them.

Prayer of Intercession
-
Lifting up the burdens of another to God defines a prayer of intercession. Psalms gives many examples of intercessory prayer, with David often lifting up the needs of his people before God. Intercessory prayer begins by asking God how to pray for your friend. As thoughts come to you about your friend, bring those before the Lord.
Prayer for Healing
-
Physical healing occurs often in the Bible, especially in the Gospels, with Jesus healing many from sickness and disability. Pray for friends who struggle with sickness or disease. Ask the Lord to heal them, but also ask Him to bring them and their family comfort during their difficult time. While asking for physical healing, ask the Lord to use the sickness or disease to bring your friend to a closer relationship with Him and with others.

Prayer for Financial Needs
-
Ask the Lord to help friends who struggle with finances. Pray for those who have lost jobs or who have encountered unexpected expenses. Quote Philippians 4:19 out loud as you pray, which says, "And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
Prayer for Forgiveness
-
Go to the Lord when you have had a disagreement with your friend. Ask the Lord to help mend your relationship. Ask His forgiveness for both your attitudes. Pray for your friend also when you know she holds bitterness against another person. Ask God to stir her heart to forgive and let go of her anger.
Prayer of Gratitude
-
Thank God for your friend. Share the ways your friend has encouraged you and helped you. Ask God to bless your friend and encourage him in a specific way that day.
Prayer for Transformation
-
Ask God to change your friend. Romans 8:29 says that God's goal for each of us is to "be transformed into the image of Christ." In other words, He wants us to become like Jesus in our character. Pray that the Lord reveals areas of character to your friend that need improvement. Ask that she will see herself, however, as God sees her -- beloved and precious. Thank God that He loves your friend right where she is, but that He also does not intend to keep her there.
