Located in Madison, Wis. , Madison Area Technical College offers a certificate of mammography and teaches students how to operate equipment, produce images, position patients and explain procedures. Students learn about screening methods and diagnostic procedures to develop an understanding of breast anatomy. Applicants must either be radiologic technologists or currently enrolled in a radiology program. Graduates of the certificate program are qualified to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification exam in mammography.
Bunker Hill Community College

The mammography certificate program at Bunker Hill Community College meets the academic and clinical requirements set by the ARRT. The college is located in Boston, Mass., and in addition to courses in mammography and its principles, students also have to complete a 100-hour clinical internship at a local medical facility. Applicants must submit an application, letter of recommendation and letters of interest. Graduates are also eligible to take the post-primary registry examination in mammography offered through the ARRT. The exam covers topics in patient care, instrumentation and mammography procedures, and candidates must perform 100 mammography patient exams.

Galveston College is located in Galveston, Texas, and offers a breast imaging/mammography certificate program that includes courses in anatomy, positioning and patient assessment, instrumentation, quality assurance and clinical applications. The clinical applications require students to complete a practicum in a professional setting. Students can graduate from the program in 11 to 13 weeks, and learn how to produce quality images in order to diagnose cancer and other conditions inside the breast. Applicants to the program must have an associate degree in an allied health field and be a registered technician in the state.
California State University Northridge

A mammography certificate is available through the California State University Northridge radiologic technology program. The mammography certificate course is 45 hours and only those currently working as radiologic technicians are qualified to enroll in the program. Classes meet once a week during the evening throughout the course of a semester. Graduates can apply the credits earned from the course into a bachelor's degree program at the university and are eligible for the California Mammography Radiologic Technology certificate.
