It is an accomplishment in itself to live for into your 80s, but to share 60 of those years with the same person is an achievement that must be celebrated. You have endured the good times and the bad times, and still managed to remain in love with one another. This endurance is so hard to achieve that the 60th anniversary has been equated with the strongest mineral on earth, the diamond. Does this Spark an idea?

Queen Victoria set the stage for the diamond anniversary after she celebrated her Diamond Jubilee. By that point she had reigned for 60 years. Diamonds are the central symbol of the celebration and can be given as gifts exchanged by the couple, from the children to the parents or from their closest friends. Diamond gifts can be earrings, bracelet, brooches, rings, cufflinks or tie tacks. High-end crystal is sometimes substituted for diamond gifts.

Anniversaries past the 50-year mark are honored by the White House. Two to three months before the wedding anniversary event, send a request directly to the White House Correspondence Office or through your Senate representative for an anniversary greeting. Let them know who will receive the greeting, the mailing address, the wedding anniversary date, the names of the married couple, the number of years they have been together and a telephone number to reach the contact person in charge of requesting the greeting.

Keeping with the theme of diamonds, invitations are sprinkled with sparkling crystal-like substances. The cost to print invitations with real diamonds in them could break the bank, let along the weight when trying to mail them. To compensate, use creativity to make diamond-themed invitations. Glitter, light colored stones and small inauthentic crystals can be used in place of diamonds. Hire a professional to create stationary to ensure that it is produced the way you intend for it to be.
Diamond White Décor

The party décor down to the clothing the guests wear should be dominated by diamond white. Leave it up to the guests to wear what they want to wear, but politely remind them on the invitation the symbolic colors that most guests will likely be wearing. Decorate the banquet hall, private yacht or wherever you are having the anniversary party with white roses or equally elegant flowers. There is no official flower for the 60th anniversary. Be creative. If you feel overwhelmed with white, you can sprinkle gold in the mix, such as the centerpieces for the tables. Gold is also a symbol of longevity and tradition.
